Classic and Modern Section
All people with motoring interests are most welcome to join the Classic and Modern Touring Section.

Do you enjoy driving, or just a car enthusiast? Then you have what’s needed to belong!
​
We enjoy all marques from A to Z so whether you love an Alfa Romeo, maybe a Mini, or lust after and new generation Electric Vehicle (EV) or a Lamborghini or a Zonda, you don’t need to own one to enjoy our section.

While the term “Classic” focuses on cars over 30 years old and built after 1945, all of our meetings and runs are suitable for enthusiasts of older and much newer cars. Everyone is welcome and owners of the latest modern ‘sporting’ cars frequently attend and are appreciated.

Our meetings are held at the Clubrooms on the first Friday of each month, February to December and we usually provide a light supper. Each meeting has a theme with members cars featured on stage and from time to time brand new and classic versions of cars will be showcased by a new car dealership. The January meeting is usually a ‘meeting on the move’ away from the Clubrooms.
Events vary from weekend social cruises and day runs, to garage and motorsport visits, a 3-day ‘Sunseeker’ event and many other areas of interest. We love to include family events the kids will want to join in!
Come along for the chance to show your car, or just talk with like-minded enthusiasts and enjoy a great social crowd!
Veteran and Vintage Sections
The Veteran Section encompasses enthusiasts of motor vehicles from the dawn of motoring in the late 19th century to the end of 1918. Vintage Section members care about cars from the time the motor industry returned to civilian production in 1919 after the end of WWI and up to the end of 1945.

Our meetings are big on socialising and low on formality. we have cars on stage and speakers on variety of topics from technical matter to marque history. Cosmetic Surgery to Antarctic motoring, medieval armour to rebuilding wrecks - in fact something for everyone! Our monthly outings are stress-free, enjoyable adventures and open to all members of any car, truck or bike. We particularly welcome guests at both meetings and outings.
Veteran and Vintage meetings are held i the Reg Sparks Room in the Clubhouse on every third Friday of the month.
Fleurieu Group
Formed some 20 years ago to provide events for the growing number of Sporting Car Club members and partners living and holidaying within the region the Fleurieu Group offers a regular range of drives commencing from Goolwa and covering Fleurieu Peninsula and surrounding areas. All Sporting Car Club members are welcome and all types of cars are catered for (preferably in your sports car) to drive the stunning roads of the area (sealed roads only). With a social emphasis you can drive to many of the great food and wine areas of the Fleurieu for a meal in company with fellow enthusiasts.
Runs are mainly scheduled to Sunday lunch although occasional breakfast, dinner and midweek runs are also offered.
An annual 4 day 3 night long weekend accommodated tour in November and the traditional May Day lunch run are highlights of the Fleurieu Group calendar.

Competition Section
If you eat, drink and breathe motorsport, you will find a smorgasbord of opportunity at the Club's Competition Section. Pretty well up there in the rev range, this section is responsible for the organisation and promotion of all the Club's competition events.

If you have ever dreamed of 'having a go', the Sporting Car Club can help make it happen. Competition-wise, we run circuit racing at both The Bend Motorsport Park and Mallala Motorsport Park with the SCCSA CAMS State Championship. The club owns the Collingrove Hillclimb track venue where we run Club, State and National level competitions and events.

If you love your motorsport but don't want to get behind the wheel, our members can help officiate with organisational or on-track tasks. The camaraderie is brilliant, the thrill enormous and the fun never-ending. We provide all the training you need.
Historic Race Register
Old racing cars never die – they just keep getting faster, and so do their owners! The Sporting Car Club’s Historic Racing Register promotes and documents historic racing in South Australia.
Each of the five rounds of the SCCSA CAMS State Series feature a Historic category where owners get to push their historics to the test.
We host two all-historic motorsport events each year; one a circuit race meeting, the other a hillclimb at Collingrove Hillclimb.
Usually hosted around April/Anzac Day, we host the Mallala All Historic Race Meeting. Later in the year we host the Barossa Vintage Collingrove Hillclimb.
HQ Race Register
It’s easy to drive a fast car quickly – driving a near standard HQ Kingswood, complete with 3.3 litre six and 3 speed manual, now that’s a challenge! The concept of racing HQ Holdens was “invented” in Tasmania and introduced to mainland Australia by the Sporting Car Club, who promoted the first race at Mallala in 1989.
This category has re-defined the term “close racing”, with racers diving 3 abreast into corners with amazing regularity. The best part for would-be racers is that – in relative terms at least – racing a HQ Holden is an inexpensive way to enter into competitive motor sport. After the initial purchase of the car, strict regulations ensure that maintenance and modification costs are kept to a minimum.
With everyone using the same cars, there’s no shortage of advice for newcomers from experienced racers on how to tune cars and improve lap times (although not too much!).
